First, a reminder:

Abernathy ISD WILL have school on Friday, January 30th (tomorrow). We will continue to follow the official school calendar unless further announcements are made. At this time, no decisions have been made regarding Fridays that are currently scheduled as days off. If anything changes in the future, families and staff will hear it directly from the district.

Second (and most importantly) this is a sincere THANK YOU.

Today would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our campus crew and the City of Abernathy. While many of us were staying warm and waiting out the weather, these individuals were outside clearing roads around our schools, parking lots, and sidewalks so we could safely open our doors.

Sometimes, when everything feels like it has come to a stop, it’s easy to overlook the countless hours of behind-the-scenes work that make “normal” possible again. Today is a reminder of just how much dedication, grit, and heart it takes to keep a school system moving; especially in literally freezing temperatures.

We are grateful for our people.

We are grateful for our partners.

And we are incredibly thankful for the hard work, selflessness, and pride shown by those who stepped up when our community needed it most.

Abernathy ISD is strong because of the people.
