Communicable Disease Chart and Notes for Schools
Abernathy ISD follows the recommendations of the Texas Department of State Health for communicable disease management. Parent/guardians that are aware that their child has a communicable or contagious disease are asked to contact the campus nurse so that other students exposed to the disease can be alerted if deemed necessary. Students with certain diseases are not allowed to attend school while their disease is contagious. These illnesses include, but not limited to, whooping cough, chicken pox, mumps, measles, ringworm of the scalp, fever, pink eye, fifth disease, and strep throat, More information can be obtained from the Communicable Disease: Exclusion and Readmission to School Guidelines.
Please note: unvaccinated students are subject to exclusion from school in the event of suspected exposure to communicable disease. This determination will be made in partnership with local health departments, the Texas Department of State Health and/or the district’s medical advisor.
